Aspen Fashion Week scared my brother (but just a little).

"Okay, cool. Can we go now?" my brother asked, approximately five minutes after we arrived at the Belly Up for the first ever Aspen Fashion Week runway show last Wednesday night. "No. You are staying," I said in the same stern tone my mother uses. "Now wait there while I go get us a free drink." Happy once he had a margarita in his hand, we settled in for some serious people watching. The place was packed and the buzz around the room was that the venue was oversold as getting from point A to point B proved to be a major challenge. At one point, a girl knocked into me and I spilled my very red pomegranate martini on the sleeve of one of my yoga students who is in recovery. Talk about awkward.

Tweedle Dee, Twitter What?

Shanti says i should get on Facebook and Twitter as soon as possible so I can spread my work around the internet like a virus. So I guess these days, at least when it comes to disseminating information, a virus is a good thing. But there's something about the sound of it I don't like, this idea of puking words in a way that people will see them instead of crafting them carefully for print, which is so nice and neat and pretty and well, permanent. Plus, you have to earn your place in print. You can't just barf onto a napkin and hand it around to every asshole who's curious enough to look at it, which is the sense i get from some of these sites. There's a certain voyeuristic quality about the whole thing that just makes it feel cheap.

Feeling Fine in 09

Well, 2009 has been a blessed year for me so far. I met the love of my life on New Year's Eve and it seems that for the first time maybe ever, I feel fulfilled and inspired in life and love and work.
